  Orthodontics

Give yourself or your child a gift that will last a lifetime.
A Beautiful Smile.

Orthodontic treatment begins with an evaluation to determine the best course of treatment. The type of orthodontic treatment that will be right for you depends on many factors.

Dr. Young will evaluate your needs and make recommendations based on that
assessment.

Many treatment options are available that will produce desirable results, and not all patients will require all phases of treatment. A Two-Phase program or full treatment may be recommended.

Treatment Phases are determined on a case by case basis

  • First Phase: Typically 12-18 months
    -Braces
    -Headgear
    -Rapid Palatal Expander
    -Face Mask
    -Functional Appliance ("retainer")

  • Maintenance Phase:
    - In between the first and second phase is the Maintenance Phase. A patient will be seen approximately two times and may need to wear a retainer during this phase.

  • Second Phase: Typically 12-24 months
    - This phase may not be required.
    - After all the permanent teeth have erupted and further treatment is
recommended, a new plan will be discussed.

  • Full Treatment:
    - Length of care is dependant on severity of problems
    - Age of Patient
    - Patient Cooperation
    - Consistency in Keeping Appointments

  • Additional Appliances:
    • Lingual Arch - Fits on the inside of the lower teeth, from molar to molar, as a space maintainer.
    • Herbst Appliance - A fixed functional appliance available in a variety of designs to achieve multifunctional treatment goals such as expansion, space opening or closure or high angle open bite intrusion.

It's never too early or too late to consider Orthodontic treatment . . . for a smile that will last a lifetime.
